What is moissanite

Moissanite is a lab-created stone, silicon carbide if you want the chemistry, cut and graded like a diamond. It's harder than sapphire, it throws more fire than a diamond does, and it reads as diamond to the eye and on a standard thermal tester. It isn't one, and it costs a fraction of one. That's the whole business.

How it's graded

Color runs on the same D to Z scale as diamond. Ours are D to F, which is colorless. Clarity is VVS: inclusions you'd need magnification to find.

How it wears

At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it's harder than every gemstone except diamond. It doesn't cloud, scratch in normal wear, or lose its fire. Clean it with warm water, a drop of dish soap, and a soft brush.

Why we say so

Because you'd find out anyway, and because the price only makes sense once you know. All stones are lab-created moissanite, not diamonds. We say this on every page on purpose.
